About

Notetaker is Wispr Flow's new AI meeting assistant for Mac, aimed at people who live in back-to-back calls and want transcripts, summaries, and follow-ups they can actually rely on. Notetaker captures audio through the Mac instead of joining a meeting as a visible bot , and works across Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack Huddles, Discord, browser calls, and conversations picked up through the computer's microphone. That local-first approach is the pitch to founders and operators tired of seeing a third-party bot sit awkwardly in every customer call. Beyond raw capture, the product tries to bracket the whole meeting workflow. Wispr is also positioning Notetaker as a research tool before meetings begin. It can review previous conversations and research external participants to generate a pre-read, then produces a summary and answers questions after the fact, including a "what did I miss" recap if you join late. Accuracy for tricky names and jargon leans on Wispr Flow's custom dictionary, which helps with accuracy for acronyms, names, product names, and beyond , along with context pulled from connected apps like Slack and your calendar to improve speaker attribution. The launch matters because it is Wispr's first meaningful step outside dictation, extending the voice-to-text product that made the company known into the broader meetings category currently dominated by tools like Granola, Fireflies, and Otter. It is shipped by the team led by co-founder and CEO Tanay Kothari alongside co-founder Sahaj Garg , and it lands inside the existing Wispr Flow Mac app rather than as a separate download, which lowers the switching cost for users already dictating through Flow every day.

The tagline slaps but 'Don't type, just speak' is one letter away from a Fisher-Price toy. Try 'Say it once. Ship the notes.' No charge.

Notetakers are a red ocean at this point. Curious what Wispr does that Otter, Fireflies, Granola, and the four I forgot don't.

Before I forward this to my team: where does the audio live, how long is it retained, and can I get a DPA that isn't a Google Doc?

Watched the launch video twice just for the pacing. Whoever cut it understood that meeting notes are inherently boring and leaned into deadpan, respect.

Is the demo live or is that the usual 'we hit record on a good day' montage? Would love to see it summarize a 47-person all-hands with three people eating chips.

Fair, but the real test is a 6 person eng standup where two people are on mobile hotspot. If it handles that I'll actually pay.

Tweet copy is doing a lot with very little and I'm here for the restraint. Every other AI launch reads like a Ted Talk transcript.

Still using Evernote and a Livescribe pen. Explain to me why I need this in the vocabulary of 2019 please.

You can hear a meeting note without seeing the human suffering that created it.
