Authentic video vibe, but it could feel a bit more polished.

About

Sun is a mobile app that turns any topic into on-demand audio, generating podcasts, audiobook-style summaries, and full courses that users can listen to while commuting, walking, or working out. Users can instantly generate audio content, listen, ask questions, and receive context-aware answers in real time, all powered by GenAI. Length, voice, and depth are all adjustable mid-listen, so a two-hour fundraising podcast or a twenty-minute book breakdown can be reshaped on the fly. Today's launch opens the app to the public after a closed period during a16z Speedrun, the firm's accelerator program , where Sun was part of the SR006 cohort. The product goes beyond one-off generations by stitching outputs into a continuous personalized stream and connecting to apps users already rely on, so the queue keeps building without manual selection. Early traction has come from students and operators around Stanford, which is the launch beachhead before broader rollout. The company is led by founder and CEO Artin Bogdanov, based in Silicon Valley, who frames Sun as the meeting point between an Audible-style listening habit and a ChatGPT-style ability to ask follow-up questions. For founders and investors tracking the AI audio space, this launch is worth a look as a test of whether generated, interactive audio can replace the search-and-pick model that has defined podcasts and audiobooks until now.

The 'Audible and ChatGPT had a son' line is doing a lot of heavy lifting in this bio. I respect the commitment to the metaphor though, even if Audible is going to need a paternity test.

Tweet got cut off at the most important part, classic. Was the cliffhanger intentional or did the launch ship before the copy did?

Genuine question from someone who skips podcast intros: how do you handle the 'this is hallucinated and confidently wrong' problem when the format is 40 minutes of audio? Citations on a transcript would help me trust it.

Pace in the AI audio category has been wild this quarter, and most launches are just 'TTS but vibier'. The interactive listen-and-ask angle is the only thing here I haven't already scrolled past five times.

Speedrun cohort shipping a real product instead of a landing page, refreshing. The 'not so quietly' phrasing is cute, you've been posting demos for months Artin.

If I'm a CFO looking at this, my first question is per-minute generation cost vs subscription price. Long-form audio on demand sounds great until someone asks for a 6 hour course on medieval tax law.

Two engineers on my list right now who would eat this product alive, one infra and one audio ML. DM open if Sun is staffing up post-launch.

Building something adjacent in audio learning and honestly happy to see another team push the 'ask while you listen' loop. May the best interrupt UX win.

One more thing for the roadmap: let me drop a syllabus PDF and have it spit out a 10 episode course with a quiz at the end of each. You're 80% there already, finish the job.

Lasse Lund4/27/2026

Roadmap creep speedrun in the replies, incredible. Let them ship the core loop before you turn it into Coursera with a microphone.

Naive question but if I ask a follow up mid-listen, does the rest of the audio re-generate around my question or just pause and answer? The answer changes whether this is a player or a whole new format.
