About

Saudara AI is a sourcing agency for US brands buying physical goods overseas, pairing a human broker on every deal with AI agents that handle the slow parts of the work like drafting specs, vetting factories, and checking certifications before money changes hands. It connects American brands with Indonesian suppliers across apparel, textiles, home goods, supplements, and raw materials, with an AI agent that finds the factory and handles vetting, sampling, and delivery while a human stays in the loop at every stage. The pitch is aimed at founders and ops teams who have been burned by ghosting, opaque timelines, and suppliers that look fine on paper but fail on compliance or delivery. The timing is the main reason this launch matters now. Indonesian exports to the US grew 23% in 2025 to over $30B, but most brands still lack a reliable on-ramp into that supplier base. As US importers diversify away from a single-country sourcing strategy, Saudara is positioning itself as the channel for buyers who want Indonesia-made apparel, textiles, home goods, and supplements without hiring a traditional agent or flying out to walk factory floors themselves. Saudara was founded in 2025 by Edward Haryono and Jennifer Prasetyo , with Haryono serving as cofounder and CEO and Prasetyo as cofounder and CTO . Haryono describes growing up around three generations of family experience in manufacturing, which shapes the company's starting point in Indonesia and its stated ambition to build broader infrastructure for global supply chains over time. The company is part of Y Combinator's Spring 2026 batch, with a team of two and David Lieb as primary partner.

The tweet buries the lede. 'AI broker' in the first line would hook way harder than 'international sourcing is broken,' which every sourcing tweet opens with.

Calling it '10x faster' without showing a side-by-side is the oldest trick in the sourcing playbook. Where's the demo clip?

Indonesia-specific positioning is smart. Everyone else is screaming Vietnam or Mexico right now, so this actually stands out in my feed.

Saudara means sibling in Indonesian/Malay, which is a genuinely lovely brand choice for a relationship-heavy business. Naming alone tells me they've actually been on the ground.

Curious how lean the ops team is. Sourcing usually requires a small army of QC people on WhatsApp at 3am, so I want to know who's actually in the loop here.

Apparel and home goods is a brutal first wedge because returns and defects eat your margin alive. Rooting for them but the QC piece is where most sourcing startups quietly die.

If the 'AI' part is a GPT wrapper that drafts factory emails while humans do the real brokering, just say that. Nothing wrong with it, but the framing matters.

Roadmap suggestion: a buyer-side dashboard that tracks sample status, MOQ negotiations, and shipping in one view. Right now every brand I know runs this in a Google Sheet from 2019.
