About

Osmo Studio is an AI-native video editor aimed at startups and product teams who need launch videos, demos, and motion graphics without living in After Effects. The product turns ideas, Figma files, and footage into polished, on-brand animations built as editable code , so designers and founders can iterate on motion the way they iterate on a design file rather than re-rendering from scratch. Reference videos and code can seed a scene, and every element remains editable downstream. The company is coming out of stealth today alongside a $5M seed round. It is structured unusually for an AI tooling company, operating simultaneously as a San Francisco film studio that produces launch content for tech companies and as the software team building the editor those films are made in. That dual setup is what co-founder Will Hoppin means by "a storytelling studio with a software factory," and it means the product is being pressure tested on real client work rather than only demo reels. Hoppin left A24 to start the company and previously worked at NBC's Saturday Night Live, and he is building Osmo with co-founder Chris He, whose background includes Atomic and Bravado. The launch matters right now because motion graphics has been one of the last holdouts in the design stack, still gated by specialist tools while adjacent workflows in UI, copy, and stills have moved to browser-based, AI-assisted editors. Osmo is betting that founders and marketing teams will pull that workflow into the same surface where their product already lives in Figma and code.

Leaving A24 to sell a Figma-to-motion pipeline is the most 2025 career pivot I've read this week. Curious whether the exports actually hold up in a real edit bay or just look great in a launch reel.

"Make stories that move" is cute but every motion tool says this. Try "stories, in motion, on command." You can Venmo me later.

The cut from Figma frame to full motion sequence at 0:23 in the launch vid is genuinely the cleanest reveal I've seen this month. Whoever edited that earned their coffee.

Kerning on the wordmark is doing something weird between the two Os. Otherwise the palette slaps, very A24-poisoned in the best way.

Every AI video demo looks incredible until you try to change one specific frame. "Fully editable" is a very load-bearing phrase and I want to see the ugly middle state.

Curious what the underlying representation is here. Are you going neural scene graph or is this closer to a diffusion pass conditioned on structured input?

Is there an API on the roadmap or is this strictly a hosted studio experience? Would love to know how the scene graph is exposed before I get too excited.

One more thing for the roadmap: timeline collaboration with comment pins, like Figma but for motion. You'll thank me at Series A.

Been building something adjacent in my garage for six months and this launch just made my Notion doc feel very small. Back to the drawing board I guess.
