Nova Intelligence is an agentic AI platform built specifically for SAP, the enterprise software that touches the back office of most Fortune 500 companies. The product analyzes, modernizes, and generates the custom code that runs payroll, supply chain, and finance workflows, with current customers using it to redesign business processes, resolve production issues, and migrate aging ABAP estates onto S/4HANA. The launch matters now because SAP has set a mandatory migration deadline for customers to move from legacy systems to its modern S/4HANA platform, recently pushed from 2027 to 2030 , putting thousands of large enterprises on a clock to rewrite decades of proprietary code. The company is announcing $40M in total funding, anchored by a $31.5 million Series A led by Chemistry, with existing investors Accel, Conviction, and SAP.io, SAP's venture arm, also participating . CEO Emma Qian previously worked as a research engineer at Google DeepMind and Meta AI, and co-founded Nova alongside repeat operator Sam Yang and Professor Alexander Zeier, co-inventor of SAP HANA and former CTO of Accenture's SAP Business Group . Justin Kershaw, formerly CIO of Cargill, joined as chief customer officer , giving the team direct experience operating SAP at one of its largest customers. Early traction supports the productivity claim in the launch. A case study with Kyndryl showed Nova's system led to a 75% reduction in manual effort and a 50% cost reduction in modernizing a company's SAP platform , and Festo, one of the first 30 SAP customers in the world and running the system since the 1970s, estimated they can work about five times faster . Nova is hiring across engineering, go-to-market, and operations, and Qian has said the long-term plan is to extend the platform beyond SAP into the other systems where enterprise business processes actually live.
