Energy is a desktop AI agent that carries out multi-step work across the everyday apps a knowledge worker already uses, from banking tools like Mercury to product analytics like PostHog to email and code review. It's aimed at operators, founders, and anyone who has watched a capable model sit unused because the setup felt like an engineering project. The product imports existing browser logins along with any MCPs, skills, or automations the user wants to bring over, and it can run on a paid ChatGPT plan or a choice of other models. The launch is pitched at closing the gap between what current models can do and what most people actually delegate to them. In the demo, Energy reconciles missing receipts by pulling them from inbox and files and uploading them back into Mercury, identifies power users inside a product analytics tool and schedules interviews with them by email, then drafts pull requests from the meeting notes and routes them to a co-founder for review. The framing is "vibe working," positioning general computer work as the next surface for the same hands-off pattern that vibe coding popularized. Energy is led by Gabriel Petersson, a former scientist on OpenAI's Sora team who previously worked at Midjourney and Dataland , alongside his co-founder David, and the company is based in San Francisco. Petersson is a self-taught Swedish AI researcher who skipped formal education before joining OpenAI , and he resigned three months before this launch to start the company.
