About

Clouted is building marketing infrastructure for the short-video era, automating the work of turning long-form content like songs, podcasts, and films into clips engineered to travel across TikTok, Reels, and Shorts. The platform coordinates a network of more than 100,000 gig creators to edit clips, then uses AI to decide which platforms and audiences to target, running continuous tests so each campaign teaches the next one what formats and channels actually convert. It's aimed at brands, labels, studios, and marketing agencies that have been hand-managing armies of clippers and guessing at distribution. The launch matters now because the company just closed a $7M seed led by Slow Ventures, with participation from Gold House Ventures, Weekend Fund, and Peak XV's Surge, and is using the round to scale its Distribution Intelligence platform beyond music into film, gaming, and consumer brands. Clouted came out of a16z Speedrun in 2024 and already counts partners like BMG, Lionsgate, and Monstercat, positioning itself against clipping tools like Overlap AI while pointing at CreatorIQ and Hightouch as the longer-term comparison. The team is led by CEO Justin Banusing, who previously used the underlying tech to grow the Manila electronic music festival &Friends to a 20,000-person event, alongside COO Adriel Yong and CTO Kairui Zeng, working out of Los Angeles. The launch video, a montage of an aspiring musician being told to make himself viral, is a fairly direct statement of the thesis: in a distribution-first market, attention is something you manufacture, and Clouted wants to be the system that manufactures it.

"Nobody believes in you, so make them" is the meanest pull quote I've read all month and I respect it. Already stealing this energy for my next standup.

Cool launch but where's the API surface? If I can't pipe my own content through a webhook this is just another dashboard with a nice font.

Naive question but if my story is everywhere, what happens when one platform flags it? Does the rest of the network just keep humming or does it cascade?

The hook on the launch video is solid but you lose me around second 14 when the voiceover gets soft. First 10 seconds carried it, the rest needed a tighter cut.

Reminds me of an early bet in my portfolio that pivoted from scheduling to distribution and never looked back. Slow leading is a strong signal here.

Whoever picked that off-white on the landing page deserves a small raise. The logo lockup spacing on mobile though, somebody please nudge it 2px left.

Been working on something adjacent for 11 months, about 3 weeks from launch I swear. Watching this drop feels personal.

We had an internal tool at Meta in 2019 that cross-posted to four surfaces and it died because nobody owned analytics. Curious how Clouted avoids that fate.

Last distribution product launched without an agentic loop. In 8 months this will feel like manual transmission, but I mean that affectionately.

Would love to see impression-to-follow ratios broken down per surface before I buy the "everywhere" pitch. Cross-posting without per-platform tuning historically tanks engagement on at least two of them.

What's the headcount on this? Seven mil seed in this category usually means 14 people in a SoHo loft but I'm rooting for a lean four.
