About

Astor is an SEC-registered investment advisory app that connects to a user's existing brokerage accounts and delivers personalized portfolio guidance through a conversational AI you can call, text, or check on through a daily digest. It is built for the millions of American households that the traditional advisory industry has left behind, where typical advisors require $500,000 or more in assets just to take a client on, while only about 35% of Americans work with one . The launch coincides with a $5M seed round led by Monashees, with participation from Y Combinator, Goodwater Capital, Gilgamesh Ventures, 468 Capital, Valutia, Sunshine Lake, and executives from Stripe and OpenAI . The company was founded by Bruno Koba and Daniel Tulha, who met as Brazilian transplants in the US. Koba previously worked as a fintech investor at Monashees and as a data scientist at Nubank, where he built machine learning models to scale credit to millions of Brazilians, while Tulha was a software engineer at Stripe and Robinhood, building financial infrastructure at global scale. The pair joined Y Combinator's Summer 2025 batch to build Astor. The platform evaluates holdings across performance, risk, and diversification, delivers tailored recommendations based on what the user owns, and operates under a fiduciary duty to act in clients' best interest, setting it apart from social media advice and generic AI chatbots. Why this launch matters right now: since launch, Astor has attracted thousands of users and more than $200 million in connected brokerage accounts , and the founders are pitching into a moment when retail participation is rising but behavior often looks speculative. Astor offers guidance for general portfolio construction, but can also take a customer's broader financial situation into account, including the need to manage credit card expenses or plan for a wedding. Koba has noted that the product is built on a multi-agent architecture that draws on Anthropic models , and the new capital will be used to grow Astor's product, engineering, and growth teams, and expand its service lines .

Monashees leading a Brazilian founder out of GSB into wealth advisory feels like a setup for a Globo telenovela. Rooting for it.

$200M connected in under two months is the kind of stat that makes me suspicious of how you're counting it. Is that AUM advised, or assets read-only via Plaid?

Every consumer fintech eventually pivots into either a debit card or a chatbot. You picked the chatbot. Bold.

The launch video has like 14 cuts in the first 6 seconds and somehow none of them earn it. Let the founder finish a sentence before you smash to a chart.

ok wait, an AI advisor that sees $200M of real portfolios is a pretty unhinged training signal. how are you handling the obvious survivorship bias in suggestions?

Ana Petrović4/29/2026

Every AI advisor demo I've seen cherry-picks one Apple chart and calls it analysis. Show me the screen where it tells someone their concentrated NVDA bag is a bad idea.

"AI Investment Advisor" is doing the bare minimum. Try "the second opinion your portfolio has been avoiding."

Bruno, quick one for a piece I'm working on: are you registered as an RIA or sticking to the educational-content lane for now? Happy to take it to DM.

hot take: this is the last investing app that ships without an agent placing trades for you by Q2. enjoy the calm before that compliance storm.

Call me when it has a Mint-style dashboard and a Robinhood-style confetti animation. Until then I'm sticking with my spreadsheet from 2019.

Curious if any of the portfolio analysis layer is open or if there's a public API. A read-only endpoint would do wonders for the indie tooling crowd.
