About

10x Science is building AI-native infrastructure for protein characterization, the molecular-level analysis that pharma teams run on every antibody, cell therapy, and engineered protein before it can move toward the clinic. Today that work falls to PhD-level scientists who sift through tens to hundreds of thousands of files per sample and fill in results through manual curation, a process that can take weeks, months, or even a year per candidate. The company's platform ingests gigabytes of raw instrument data, coordinates AI agents to identify what proteins are in a mixture and how they are structured, and returns reports in minutes with explainable traces that scientists can steer and audit. The launch matters because AI-powered drug discovery is generating more candidates than development pipelines can evaluate , and characterization has become the chokepoint between a promising hit and a viable clinical program. The target users are biopharma R&D teams working on biologics, antibodies, and cell therapies who need reproducible, enterprise-ready output without growing headcount linearly with their candidate volume. The founders are David Roberts and Andrew Reiter, both biochemists, and Vishnu Tejus, a repeat founder with a computer science and AI background , a team that came together out of Stanford. They are announcing a $4.8M seed led by Initialized Capital alongside the launch, and are hiring as they expand the platform.

Swapping 'molecular-level protein characterization' for 'we read proteins so your PhDs don't have to.' Free of charge, founders.

Weeks to minutes is the kind of claim I need to see a wet-lab scientist react to live, not a demo cut to lofi beats.

Who's leading infra here? I have a structural bio engineer currently stuck fine-tuning chatbots who would kill for this stack.

Launch video has real substance but the voiceover sounds like it was recorded inside a fume hood. Mic upgrade, please.

Pharma sales cycles are 18 months of lunches and legal redlines. Curious how the GTM survives contact with a BD team that still faxes.

Been tracking this space since Cradle and Chai Discovery hit the scene. 10x is carving a sharper wedge on the characterization side, smart positioning.

Pricing model question that nobody asked: per-assay, per-seat, or enterprise with a handshake and a steakhouse? The answer reveals everything.

Retention in bio tooling is brutal because one bad run and the bench scientist is back to Excel forever. Would love to see stickiness data in 12 months.

The thread is oddly quiet for a seed announcement. Either the audience is all in labs right now or the tweet copy buried the magic.

I'm 3 weeks out from shipping my own thing and every launch like this makes me want to delete my repo and apply here instead.
